Celebrating 2024 – A Look Back At What God Has Done
In “Celebrating 2024 – A Look Back At What God Has Done,” Pastor Mark Medley invites us to reflect on a year marked by unity, growth, and God’s abundant grace. Inspired by Psalm 105, Mark encourages us to give thanks to the Lord, make His deeds known among the people, and remember how powerfully He’s been at work in our midst. From heartfelt acts of compassion to far-reaching missions partnerships, Trinity Community Church has seen God’s hand move in countless ways, reminding us that we truly belong, grow, and serve together.
One of the most poignant moments comes from witnessing how our community supports one another in times of difficulty. Mark highlights Peg’s story, a heartfelt testament to the power of bearing each other’s burdens. The love and support Peg experienced mirror the early church’s call in Galatians 6:2, where believers rally together to offer hope and tangible help. Whether through a meal, a prayer, or simply being present, Trinity’s family-like environment demonstrates that no one walks alone.
Our church has thrived with new life and new commitments: baby dedications, baptisms, and a wave of new partners who feel called to join TCC. Mark underlines the importance of finding places to belong—community groups, triads, or simply connecting over common interests. These smaller gatherings reflect our heart for authentic relationships, grounded in Scripture and strengthened by fellowship. As families grow and ministries expand, we celebrate “milestones” like Jubilee gatherings that commemorate God’s work over the past 50 years.
This year also brought a spotlight on global outreach, showing how TCC’s impact stretches far beyond our local community. Mark shares how mission partnerships with places like Ghana, Kenya, and Tanzania remind us that worshiping God differs greatly from the “perfect perversion” of idol worship. Communion, rather than sacrificing animals or pouring out libations, stands as a powerful symbol of the finished work of Jesus. Through micro-business development, well-digging, and medical missions, we’ve seen communities transform, all while proclaiming the gospel’s liberating truth.
In tandem with these global efforts, TCC’s local partnerships embody the serve aspect of our vision. From preparing meals for new parents to assisting vulnerable youth through organizations like Street Hope, we strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus in East Tennessee. Mark highlights how older women are stepping up to mentor younger women under the “Melissa Movement,” fostering deeper discipleship and a spiritual legacy for the next generation. Beyond that, the church has poured time and energy into Serve Days—supporting schools, shelters, and community projects that bring tangible improvements to local neighborhoods.
Growth remains a cornerstone of our collective journey, as we continue to deepen our knowledge of Jesus and our love for people. Mark points to sermon series, Bible reading plans, and ministry training as ways TCC has encouraged spiritual development throughout 2024. Whether it’s diving into the active work of the Holy Spirit or studying books like Jonah and 1 Peter, believers are challenged to mature in faith. With Triads, Timothy Team, and other discipleship avenues, TCC members gain practical tools to walk out their callings.
Looking ahead to 2025, Mark shares a glimpse of new dreams and continued commitments. He expresses gratitude for the prayers and financial support that make so many of these ministries possible, even as the church navigates shifts in giving. The joy of seeing God’s faithfulness in 2024 fuels hope and anticipation for what lies ahead. Through it all, we are reminded that it’s the finished work of Jesus—His body broken and blood poured out—that defines our identity and purpose. We don’t bring sacrifices to appease a distant deity; we rest in the grace of a Savior who sacrificed Himself for us.
This reflection on 2024 is more than a history lesson; it’s a testament to what happens when a community unites under God’s love and mission. Whether you’ve been here for decades or you’re just getting connected, we invite you to find your place in this unfolding story. May we continue to share the good news of Christ’s victory, support one another, and celebrate all God has done. As Mark says, we have every reason to give Him glory forever.
