In chapter 2, Paul calls Titus to do his part in opposing the practices of those false teachers who, according to chapter 1, had failed to proclaim God’s truth accurately (Vs. 1:10-16). As we have just completed the letters that Paul wrote to Timothy, we now come to one written to his lesser-known companion, Titus. Collectively, these letters are known as the Pastoral Epistles because they give instruction to church leaders on how to lead properly. Paul has been traveling throughout the Gentile world establishing churches and he at times leaves behind his protégés whom he calls sons to further the work that he began.
