Matt. 18 | God Of The ONE

One of the difficulties that Christians may have as they struggle to understand their relationship with God is the personal aspect of God’s salvation. I have had conversations with people struggling to believe in God’s plan of salvation for mankind where their hang-up was not that God wouldn’t go to great lengths for the majority of mankind, but rather that they were included in that group. They did not understand the personal nature of God.

Jesus opens our minds to understand that while God loves and deals with mankind as a whole, as a group, He at the same time loves and deals with us as an individual. Jesus said…

“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.”

God cares personally about you and about your relationship with Him. You are not just another face in the church herd. You are an important lamb which God will go to great lengths to have back in his presence. God even warns others to be careful about how they deal with you. Jesus said…

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.”

We as brothers and sisters in Christ are to love one another because each of us is especially loved by God. Each individual holds uncountable value to God. You hold uncountable value to God. That should give us great encouragement. We are highly valued.

It should also give us curiosity. We should desire to get to know those that God highly values. You know what else? It should also give us a desire to reach out to the lost, for whom God has a concern. He loves them just like He loves you.
